Student Assessments

In Idaho Falls School District 91, our teachers and staff strive to provide students with a culture that empowers, instruction that engages and technology that enables. The focus is on individual student growth, and our staff is dedicated to helping children become lifelong learners and successful in school, college and the world of work.

Idaho Falls School District 91 uses several measures to assess student achievement.

The Idaho Standards Achievement Test or ISAT is administered to students in grades 3-8 and again in grade 10.

  • The test measures how well students are meeting state objectives in reading, language arts and math.
  • ISAT scores are also used to determine our schools Adequate Yearly Progress, which details how schools are meeting those academic objectives.
  • To graduate from high school, students must show proficiency on the 10th grade ISAT.

The EXPLORE Test is administered to students in 8th grade to help gauge their readiness for college and the world of work.

  • The test includes questions about English, math, reading and science.
  • EXPLORE identifies a student’s talents, interests, strengths and areas that may need improvement.
  • The information is useful as student’s develop a four-year plan, which is required as part of high school registration. The plan details the classes students will take in high school to ensure they meet their academic goals.

  • The PLAN test also provides information about a student’s readiness for college.

The SAT Test is administered to all students in 11th grade, and is a graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2013.

  • The test includes sections on reading, writing and math.
  • Created by the College Board, the SAT test assesses students’ academic readiness for college and how students apply the thinking, writing and study skills that are critical for success in college.
  • SAT scores are among the factors colleges consider in their admissions process.
